Butler County Communities Receive $1.7 Million for Water, Sewer and Transportation Improvements
January 20, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced today that several 12th Legislative District municipalities have been awarded $1.7 million in grants through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program for important local infrastructure projects.
“These grants represent a critical investment in the infrastructure that supports our communities every day,” said Scialabba. “By addressing stormwater issues in Mars Borough, upgrading water mains in Evans City, improving water treatment in Harmony Borough, and enhancing pedestrian and transportation access in Jackson Township, we’re ensuring safer, more reliable services for residents while laying the groundwork for future growth. I’m proud to have supported these important District 12 projects.”
The grants awarded through the PA Small Water and Sewer Program include:
• A $300,000 grant for the Municipal Water Authority of Adams Township for its Forsythe and Harbinson roads waterline extension project.
• A $300,000 grant for Evans City Borough to do Phase III of its stormwater conveyance improvement project.
• A $200,000 grant for Mars Borough to do a stormwater study project for West Arch Street and Hazel Avenue.
• A $100,000 grant for the Harmony Borough Water Authority to complete a chlorine contact loop project.
The grants awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program include:
• A $400,000 grant to Jackson Township for the construction of a pedestrian bridge, extension of a trail and widening of Hartmann Road.
• A $400,000 grant to Ogle View Corner, LLC for roadway, intersection and pedestrian infrastructure improvements on Route 19 and Ogle View Road located in Cranberry Township.
The PA Small Water and Sewer Program authorizes the Commonwealth Financing Authority to award grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. The funding can be used to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
