Evans City Receives $300,000 for West Main Street Culvert Improvements
December 18, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) and Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47) today announced Evans City Borough was awarded $300,000 in Local Share Account funds by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to make improvements to the culvert under the borough’s West Main Street.
“Flooding is one of the more pressing challenges in our region, and while we can’t control when severe weather strikes, we can take proactive steps to reduce its impact,” said Scialabba. “After meeting with local leaders and understanding the needs of Evans City, I’m proud our collaborative efforts have secured this grant funding. Replacing the culvert will help protect residents from flooding caused by heavy rain and snowmelt as our community continues to grow.”
"Road safety in our area remains a top priority, which is why I supported funding for improvements to the West Main Street culvert," said Vogel. "We can't afford to experience continued roadway hazards that have stemmed from the deterioration of the current, original culvert. This grant allows Evans City to further bolster its infrastructure and keep residents and visitors safe."
Local Share Account funds are generated by the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for distributing gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within Pennsylvania.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
