Scialabba Announces Funding Awarded to Local Fire, EMS Agencies
February 12, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced today that eight fire and emergency response organizations in the 12th Legislative District have received funding under the state Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
The program was created by the Legislature and is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
“This is vital funding for our community fire and EMS organizations, which are operated by volunteers,” said Scialabba. “Every dollar goes to improving safety and enabling our emergency responders to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.”
Below is the list of local fire companies and EMS agencies and the amount they received:
• Adams Area Fire District: $28,106.
• Callery Volunteer Fire Company: $14,385.
• Cranberry Township Emergency Medical Service: $15,000.
• Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company: $16,322.
• Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department: $16,322.
• Harmony Emergency Medical Service: $15,000.
• Harmony Fire District: $28,322.
• Quality Emergency Medical Service Inc.: $15,000.
The OSFC manages financial assistance programs for the state’s fire, ambulance and rescue organizations intended to help them improve and enhance their capabilities to provide firefighting, ambulance and rescue services.
